I then proceeded to Ellsworth AFB, SD were I joined the 28th Operational Support Squadron. At Ellsworth I provided weather support for the base and the B1 Lancer bomber aircraft stationed there. During my time at Ellsworth I was promoted to Staff Sergeant (E-5) and attended Airman Leadership School for two months. I also went on a two month temporary duty back to Keesler AFB to attend the Advanced Radar Interpretation Course. While stationed at Ellsworth, I was deployed twice. My first deployment was with the 37th Expeditionary Bomber Squadron to Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar from 2015-2016. The 37th supported Operations Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and Operation Inherent Resolve (Iraq and Syria). I provided daily weather forecast for bomber operations. The B1 was instrumental in the US’s fight against ISIS dropping a record 5,038 munitions. My second deployment was to Andersen AFB, Guam from 2017-2018. Also with the 37th EBS, this time the bombers supported the Continuous Bomber Presence mission in the Pacific. I provided daily weather forecast for the B1s, which were often involved over the Korean Peninsula as a deterrent to North Korean aggression.
